Plant specimens for cultural, disease and insect identification, as well as weed and other plant identifications, can be submitted to the office. We request that all specimens be sealed in a zip lock bag where possible and always include a name, address and telephone number.

Master Gardener volunteers are available to answer telephone questions on horticulture Monday thru Friday at the phone number above. The Extension Office is your resource for a wide range of printed horticultural material. Publications are available on everything from planting a vegetable garden to stamping out fire ants. These publications are free and we encourage the public to come by and help themselves to these reference materials.

The Galveston County Master Gardeners is the local chapter of the Texas Master Gardener program. The Texas Master Gardener Program is an educational/volunteer program offered by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, The Texas A&M University System, in cooperation with local County Commissioner Courts. As volunteer representatives of The Texas A&M System, the overall impact on our communities cannot be overstated.

Our value to the community can best be evaluated by the impact of our work in our community. We serve the people by the thousands of hours we commit through outreach projects and educational programs. We address a myriad of questions from home gardeners.  A variety of educational programs on horticulture are provided annually by Master Gardeners to many different groups of people. Master Gardeners extend to their communities the benefits of horticulture research conducted at Texas A&M University and other universities. We also assist other County Extension Agents with their educational programs on Marine Science, 4-H, and Family & Community Sciences.
